Carl G. Chafin manuscripts, 1969-1970.

Consists of photocopies of two typed, published manuscripts. The first manuscript, titled "Dateline Arizona: Six Letters to the Chicago Tribune in 1879 and 1880 by Adolphus Henry Noon," was edited by Chafin and was published in 1970. The second manuscript, titled "Was Powell First?," is Chafin's transcript of an address that was given by Otis R. Marston of Berkeley, California, before the Tenth Annual Arizona Historical Convention held in Tucson, Arizona, on May 3, 1969. Chafin published the address in his "Roadrunner" newspaper to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the departure of the first Powell expedition to the Grand Canyon from Green River, Wyoming, on May 24, 1869. Both manuscripts deal with various aspects of Arizona history as well as the history of the Colorado River.
